Many people living in one day at a time recovery has their first taste of impaired judgement when they were just kids. Often they started drinking alcohol and smoking pot in their early teens. This was common practice for many of us. Whatever it was that started this desire to repeat our early experiences we did so and eventually discovered we always wanted more and simply just couldn’t stop. In reality, our minds and bodies developed a need to repeat and repeat even when repeated usage was causing our lives to fall apart. By the time we were in our thirties many of us were in trouble. We knew we had to stop. Detoxes, treatment centers, twelve step fellowships and sometimes jails became places we became parts of. We had to stop. We were then introduced to recovery and one day at a time recovery became our only hope. Now recovery became a reality for us. Grace became ours in abundance. Slowly we began to grow one day at a time. We became grateful. Peace.
