Many people living in one day at a time recovery learn ways to stay relaxed. We often do so by participating in calming endeavors. We do so by reaffirming ourselves that times are good as we seek, or live, calm and peaceful lives. This is done purposefully and with intention. It is done by doing things we enjoy. Some of us participate in physical activity to bring the calm. The ways we do so are done in a reasonable and healthy manner. We need do so in ways that are not harmful to us. Sometimes it’s as simple as going for a walk. Some of us go for a walk when we are agitated. It can bring us calm. Some endeavors, like working with our hands, can can bring us peace. Some of us write, or participate in other creative activities. We also might find that prayer and meditation help. Another reality is some of us to take medication to find the calm. There will be times when the calm is difficult to find, but when we have developed a practice of participating in calming endeavors, we often become better equipped to deal with anxiety, and emotions that make it hard to find peace. Sometimes, simply taking life one day at a time is a calming endeavor. Many of us reach out for a listening ear. This also calms us. Perhaps life is difficult. Participating in calming endeavors helps us to cope and stay healthy. Peace.
