Many people living in one day at a time recovery know what it is like to be the lonely, the tormented, the misguided, and the ill. Being the lonely we know what it is like to be in a room full of people and still feel alone. As the tormented we know the voices of the morning after the night before which is often full of shame and remorse while being full of guilt and fear. We became misguided fools by the lies we told ourselves. And we were ill (mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically). Our course of direction to becoming well was and is abstinence, grace, and one day at a time action of reaching out for help and also giving back by trying to help others. It’s a reciprocating reality. We are no longer alone. Peace.
