Many people who are new to living in one day at a time recovery develop a kindred desire to be “somebody”. Those we are akin with (usually people we meet in the rooms of recovery) can leave a lasting impression on us especially when we resonate with their stories. Perhaps when they share they speak confidently and we know that confidence is an inviting quality. We decide that we want to be “somebody” like them. And perhaps we will. In time, and time takes time, we will understand we are all already “somebody” and we will always be “somebody”. It’s the gift of humility which is the eventual reality for us all. We all matter. Welcome into being. Peace.
