Climbing The Hill

By Be Well Today

Many people living life one day at a time are climbing the hill to find peace of mind. Although the hill can seem real as real can be, reaching the hilltop more often than not is a momentary event, or a temporary peace. The idea is to be at peace with the climb. Living life one day at a time teaches us how to do this. We realize that if we feel we need to be at the hilltop in order to find peace, our climb is delusional and unfulfilling. Often we discover we will need to go back down the hill to help others. After being up and down the hill many times, we realize the hill is an illusion. Those who came down this imaginary hill to help us in our supposed climb taught us this. When we realize this we realize that we can travel a level, less travelled road that has many twists and turns. We learn our journeys have many joyful and beautiful moments on this road. The adversities we encounter will no longer be as difficult as they once were. Life isn’t perfect but in this we find peace. It’s our reality. Peace.

Discovery’s Hints

By Be Well Today

People who live in one day at a time recovery learn that we shall experience the hints of discovery. Our discoveries subtly lets us know we can become more accepting of our lives as they unfold for us. Often, when life becomes difficult, life is not bad for us. We simply accept what’s difficult as difficult. Once again, it isn’t bad for us. It just is what it is. Our discoveries had given us hints of this as time was passing by. It just takes time for us to recognize and understand these hints. The reality of the human condition is that time takes time. Perhaps with awareness and knowledge from these hints, we learn that we might better adapt to life’s difficulties and its woes. Maybe discovery’s hints are just grace, and maybe grace is just a God thing. We just needed to experience it. Peace.

Constructive Criticism And Direction

By Be Well Today

People who live life one day at a time must learn how to accept constructive criticism and direction. As difficult as it may be, this is one of life’s realities. Constructive criticism and direction are not a put down or an attack on one’s person, or one’s being. They are not a biased judgement on one’s worth. They don’t question our ability. Very often people who are in the position to give us direction are doing so for a reason. Usually this direction helps. It is the same with constructive criticism. We must see past our own insecurities and our own biased judgements to understand. What we need to understand is that experience and learned knowledge makes another qualified to share their direction, and their constructive criticism with us. Most of the time we need it and it helps. Sometimes it just depends upon who is giving it. Peace

Scathing Depression

By Be Well Today

Those of us who live life one day at a time can understand scathing depression. Scathing depression makes us scornful, and critical people. This kind of depression can affect anyone. In reality, we often seek the help of a health professional. Some of us seek help from a family counsellor. Some of us seek spiritual guidance. Scathing depression often causes us to isolate, and makes it so that we really don’t want to seek help. Such an illness, and situations brought forth by this condition, make it difficult for us to have the motivation, or energy, to participate in therapy. At times scathing depression is a poor persons’ disorder, but it can also affect those who are well off. Several tools help us to deal with this illness. A good therapist will guide us through this. To go along with therapy, many of us need medication, or a change in medication. Please consult a physician about this. We need know that we are not alone. Many of us have learned how to deal with this disorder and recover to be well. We can discover much joy and happiness. Life is not perfect, but it’s good. It’s our reality. Reach out.

Calming Endeavors

By Be Well Today

Many people living in one day at a time recovery learn ways to stay relaxed. We often do so by participating in calming endeavors. We do so by reaffirming ourselves that times are good as we seek, or live, calm and peaceful lives. This is done purposefully and with intention. It is done by doing things we enjoy. Some of us participate in physical activity to bring the calm. The ways we do so are done in a reasonable and healthy manner. We need do so in ways that are not harmful to us. Sometimes it’s as simple as going for a walk. Some of us go for a walk when we are agitated. It can bring us calm. Some endeavors, like working with our hands, can can bring us peace. Some of us write, or participate in other creative activities. We also might find that prayer and meditation help. Another reality is some of us to take medication to find the calm. There will be times when the calm is difficult to find, but when we have developed a practice of participating in calming endeavors, we often become better equipped to deal with anxiety, and emotions that make it hard to find peace. Sometimes, simply taking life one day at a time is a calming endeavor. Many of us reach out for a listening ear. This also calms us. Perhaps life is difficult. Participating in calming endeavors helps us to cope and stay healthy. Peace.

Forecasting Dreams

By Be Well Today

Some people who live in one day at a time recovery begin a new way of forecasting dreams. Many of us dream for a peace that surpasses all understanding, and we know this peace is a simple peace. We know that we will still have struggles, and we become better equipped to handle them. We become reasonable, accepting things we cannot change, and we change what we need to change. We learn to do so when reasonable struggles occur. We discover that it is our nature to deal with such adversity. When we began forecasting our dreams in a reasonable manner, we realized the fulfillment of the peace that surpasses all understanding happens quite frequently. Some of us believe that this peace is a God thing. Some call it grace. It often happens when situations appear hopeless. We actually shot for stars, and we realized we caught some. Peace

Becoming Engaged

By Be Well Today

People who are living life one day at a time try to pay attention to what is the task at hand. As difficult as it might be, we are trying to live in the present. When we are healthy, less stressed, and not preoccupied with fear or control, we can find it possible to be engaged with the moment. This is awareness of the now. Very often, when we are working with our hands, we are becoming engaged in what we are doing. Sometimes, while in nature, we hear the wind rustling through the leaves of the trees. We see the bees landing in the bosom of a rose. We feel the warmth of the sun on our face. During these time we are being engaged with our natural surroundings. We also become capable of being engaged with people. We learn to listen and we listen to learn. And when we do this we are developing life skills. Remember this. It’s important.

Challenging Ourselves

By Be Well Today

Those of us living our lives one day at a time learn to challenge our thinking. This happens to those of us who begin to understand the hypocrisy of some of our judgements. We tell ourselves that others don’t belong. Perhaps we scorn the disabled and the less fortunate. Perhaps we are jumping on the bandwagons of critical taxpayers who blame the disabled and less fortunate for all of their woes. At times we are the pot calling the kettle black. Depression, and/or other struggles, have a tendency of twisting our thinking. As Scrooge once said, “Have we no prisons? Have we no workhouses?” Here is our reality – When we think only of ourselves, we are held in bondage to ourselves, and when we scorn others, our bondage is complete. This is not a nice place to live. Many of us understand this all too well. We learn to challenge ourselves. We understand the meaning of the word grace and we so wish to share it with others. Peace.

Invisible Peace

By Be Well Today

People who live one day at a time sometimes share with us an invisible peace. During difficult moments they appear to be hopeful and kind. Often they endeavor to be helpful and reasonable. They also, though it might be hard to understand, seek to comfort rather than to be comforted. Their reality is these people are real, alive, and sometimes struggling people. These are people who come through for other people when needed. We all know these people. Their peace is formulated by and through other people who have shared and modelled this invisible peace with them. And whether we believe it or not, invisible peace is a God thing. We can call it grace. It has helped many of us. It is more often giving than receiving. If we pay attention we learn to feel it. Perhaps then we learn to share moments of it with each other. It’s a gift we need to share so it will grow.

The Reality Of Difficulties

By Be Well Today

Many people living one day at a time know live can be difficult. A difficult life is a reality that some people understand. Difficult lives very often lead to chronic depression, addiction, and severe anxiety. It can be harmful enough to disable people. When we understand this, we understand that people who live difficult lives need help. It’s reality. Such a topic is not a negative subject. Many people choose to help people who live difficult lives. Some of us who have had difficult lives try and help others. It’s a reality that we all need to help each other the best way we know how. One day at a time we need to share the help that we can. An empathetic and reasonable outlook upon life can go a long way in supporting others to find a better life. It’s an altruistic endeavor. We’re not alone. Peace.
